What is Reiki?
Reiki is a method of energy healing discovered in Japan over 100 years ago. Its primary use was for the reduction of pain and physical ailments but is now used for a variety of issues including reducing stress, promoting relaxation, and encouraging the body to heal from within. The concept behind Reiki is that an unseen “life force energy” is how we are alive. If our energy is low, we tend to attract illness, fatigue and stress. If our energy is high, we are apt to be healthy, happy and energized.
Reiki is very similar to the ‘laying on of hands‘ used in many religions, although Reiki is not a religion.
How can Reiki help me?
People have sought the energy of Reiki to aid in the body’s natural healing process. The role of the Reiki practitioner is to act as a channel between you and whom/whatever your higher power may be. As that channel, your Reiki practitioner senses where you need healing. The philosophy behind Reiki is to allow the body to heal from within via the flow of energy through the body and its chakras (energy centers).
Over the past two decades, Reiki has become a welcomed addition to many hospitals and medical facilities, mental health centers, and hospice care. The healing power of Reiki aids in an endless number of conditions:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Pain
- Nausea
- Fatigue
- Autoimmune diseases
- Digestion
- Side effects from chemotherapy, medication, and medical procedures
Reiki can do no harm, and Reiki healers believe in and practice with the highest intention for the highest good.
